A man who bombarded his pregnant ex-girlfriend with a string of threatening and abusive messages has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.
Makonnen Lowe repeatedly threatened the 20-year-old woman via WhatsApp and text and told her would kill her and her unborn child after the couple broke up.
In one message the 27-year-old of Southampton told his ex-partner: "You think my feelings are a joke until I f***ing put one in your head".
While in another message he said: "You don't want me to go back to beating you?"
A third message read: "I am going to see you and deal with you. Watch I should come down there and rip that f***ing baby out of your stomach."
Prosecutor Susan Mulligan told Supreme Court this morning that the relationship had ended in January 2013 because Lowe had been physically abusive towards his girlfriend.
She said that Lowe launched the sickening verbal tirade in February, this year, and continued to inundate her with unwanted messages and letters even after he had been remanded into custody at Westgate when he was first charged.
Ms Mulligan's added that Lowe's actions had left his victim 'crying herself to sleep at night' and 'concerned about her unborn baby'.
In sentencing Lowe to 30 months in prison, followed by three years of probation, Judge Carlisle Greaves said: "My own view of a person who behaves like this would be, he is not fit to have a relationship with anyone on earth. Even mannequins should fear him.
"How can you love anyone or want to have a life with them and speak to them like that?
"I would advise this young lady never to have anything to do with you again."
Lowe had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of making threats to kill in writing.
Today in court he apologized for his actions to his victim and her family.
And he claimed that she had been in contact with him since and wanted him to be a part of her life.
He said: "I want to apologise to the victim and her family. We spoke recently and have come to an agreement that she wants me in her life and our child's life. I am trying to be there for my unborn child.
"I refuse to be a dead-beat dad. I have a job and the potential of a bright future.
"I have given my heart to the Lord. I am not a violent person, I am a humble young man who wants to take care of his daughter."
