A 39-year-old man who allegedly threatened to kill his wife will face trial next month.
Edward Robinson was charged with threatening Natalia Robinson in May.
It is alleged he said: “Come to Bermuda. I’m gonna kill you. I see you in Bermuda you are f**king dead. I f**king kill you”.
He admitted the charge and the facts were given to the court.
But Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner recorded a not guilty plea and questioned if Robinson could be tried because the complainant was not in Bermuda when she received the alleged threats
Crown counsel Susan Mulligan told the court the complainant and the defendant have been married for three years.
Ms Mulligan said Mrs Robinson is from the Dominican Republic and decided to end the marriage and go back home while Robinson was in Canada in April 2013, due to his verbal abuse.
The matter was set down for trial on August 19 and he was granted $2,000 bail.
