Youth to take on celebs
Beaten by a bunch of kids, Bermuda’s celebrities are keen to avoid losing to the island’s Under-11 cricket team for the third straight year.
The 2011 Hiscox 11 & Under Celebrity Cricket Festival takes place on Saturday June 4 at the National Sports Centre, North Field.
The Celebrity Team will include: Sports minister Glenn Blakeney, Michael Scott, Kim Wilson, Zane DeSilva, Michael Weeks, Michael Jackman, Bruce Barritt, Power Girl, Nadanga Bailey, Gavin Djata Smith, Teresa Perozzi, Jay Donowa, Lionel Cann, and Stephen Outerbridge among others.
There will be free children’s entertainment during the day including face painting, bouncy castle and slide. Lunch and a free T-shirt will be provided for the first 400 to attend.
Minister Blakeney said, “I am delighted once again to compete with my fellow celebrities for the coveted trophy.
This year is going to be even tougher for us as we face the BCB U11 National Academy Team who have been in training since March of this year but I am confident that we will be able to rise to the challenge. This is a great family day of cricket and festivities and I encourage everyone to come out to enjoy the festival.”
