World Cricket League team named

Medium-pace bowler Ryan Steede and wicketkeeper Kwame Tucker were the significant omissions from a 15-man squad named today for the World Cricket League.

The squad, currently training in Trinidad, will remain captained by Irving Romaine with Dean Minors as vice-captain.

The rest of the squad includes: Clay Smith, Stephen Outerbridge, OJ Pitcher, David Hemp, Janeiro Tucker, Lionel Cann, Malachi Jones, Delyone Borden, Saleem Mukuddem, Kevin Hurdle, Dwayne 'Sluggo' Leverock, Stefan Kelly and Arthur Pitcher Jnr.

Steede and Tucker did make the reserves for the squad, which also include Rodney Trott, Jekon Edness, and Azeem Pitcher. Edness' inclusion is a bit of a surprise as he was not one of the 19 players named to be in the running for World Cup team in March. His inclusion could signal lingering health concerns about Tucker being fit enough to serve as the backup keeper.

Both Hemp and Romaine could also serve as an emergency keeper if something were to happen to Minors.

The matches are scheduled to take place in Kenya amongst the six top associate countires: Kenya, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands and Bermuda

The team will depart for Kenya from Bermuda on January 24.
