Stacy Babb, Rickelle Smith and Shuntae Todd will be attending the ICC Americas 2008 Academy and Training Camp.

The three were part of the Bermuda squad that took part in the Women's World Cup qualifier in South Africa earlier this year.

Reuna Richardson was originally chosen to attend the academy; however, due to school commitments she is unable to take part.

The Academy will take place at the Sir Frank Worrell Development Centre in Trinidad and Tobago, from May 18 to May 29, 2008.

The programme will be run by Ann Browne-John, ICC Women's Committee Representative, former West Indies captain and Level 2 WICB Coach, and assisted by former international players and qualified coaches, Stephanie Power and Jasmine Sammy. The girls will have 10 days of intensive training, education, game situations and will be trying out for the WICB U19 Tournament.

Smith said in a press release: "I was really excited to hear that I was selected to attend the Academy and Training Camp.

"Having the chance to play with other players from more experienced teams really pushes me to perform better.

"This is a great opportunity for me to develop and focus on my game and I am looking forward to the experience."

Babb added: "To train at the Academy is a great opportunity for me to learn more about cricket.

"I will get more one-on-one batting, fielding and bowling instruction to improve my technique.

"I look forward to being able to bring back some of the skills I will learn to the National team and to the young girls in the National Development Squad."

President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, Reginald Pearman, said in a press release: "We are very pleased that Bermuda is able to send three promising young cricketers to the ICC Americas Region Academy and Training Camp.

"The camp will provide an excellent opportunity for them to focus on all areas of their game, whilst, at the same time mixing with other players from around the region.

"I am confident they will make the most of this opportunity and learn a lot from the experience. I look forward to the continued growth of women's cricket in Bermuda at the National level and I hope this Academy will provide another boost to our flourishing grass roots level programme."[[In-content Ad]]
