Why Moore is great
David Moore has put a positive spin for the national team. He wants to stamp his authority on it.
Moore is doing a good job of getting what he needs from the Bermuda Cricket Board. It’s unfortunate, but it seemed like Gus Logie wasn’t able to get everything he wanted.
Moore is getting the tools needed to revive Bermuda cricket.
He wants to travel all year round, which is a necessity to keep our guys exposed to cricket all year round.
We also need to get more guys playing over in the British Isles. In the past, besides me, we’ve had players like Clay Smith, Dean Minors, Glenn Blakeney and Del Hollis who all went on to play pivotal roles with the national team, partly because they had that overseas experience.
If we get guys over there, they are playing in more competitive leagues all weekend plus they get to play Twenty-20 on Wednesdays. They are getting cricket full-time and they are playing in tough conditions, which helps sharpen players’ skills.
We should also enter more tournaments that are being played in the Caribbean, like those in the Windward Islands or Jamaica.
Another thing that would help our game is for every club to have a professional. He should also have knowledge of how to prepare a wicket because we are struggling in preparing our wickets.
