Letter to the editor
Why don’t we build a bridge to Florida?
I read your article about Bermudians being more prepared for storms and hurricanes and I totally agree.
People need to be more safe and less sorry.
What happened in New Orleans can happen there, or anywhere, in the world at anytime.
But if the government doesn't care about putting up a new Causeway, after 140 years, do you think it gives a damn about the people there?
That’s why they are dragging their feet. That's extra money in their pocket.
As long as these so called leaders can get off the Island of free will, and the people there can't, Bermuda will always have problems.
The leaders think the majority of people don't have any sense anyway, so why should they care about something, your parents and grandparents, worked so hard for?
But, yes, it has been going on way too long, and it’s time to make a change.
We could even add a bridge to Florida, from Bermuda so that the common people can drive somewhere.
We could also widen the streets, as they’re too narrow — that’s what is causing a lot of the accidents. Speak up people, don't be a slave to your own island.
