To qualify for the Super-8 phase of the competition Bermuda must finish in the top four in their group. If they don't they are out of the tournament, do not qualify for the World Cup and lose their One Day International Status.
If they do finish in the top four they qualify, along with the top four in Group B for the Super-8 phase.
Then it starts to get a bit more complicated. The so-called Super 8 play-off against each other in the round robin format. BUT Bermuda does not play against the teams from their initial qualification group for a second time.
The results from phase one against their fellow qualifiers are carried through to the next stage.
They play four more matches against the qualifiers from Group B and all seven results are included in the Super-8 table.
Standings
It is the standings in this table that will determine Bermuda's fate. Finish in the top four and they are through to the World Cup and renew their ODI status, finish fifth or sixth and they miss out on the World Cup but get ODI status, finish seventh or eighth and they get nothing.
After that there are a series of play-offs between first and second, third and fourth, fifth and sixth and seventh and eighth to determine the overall tournament winner and placings. Apart from the obvious prestige attached to these games they are essentially meaningless in the overall qualification picture.[[In-content Ad]]
