Walton Brown to lecture on 'Understanding Modern Bermuda'
TUESDAY, JANUARY 8: Walton Brown will be giving a four part lecture series starting next week called Understanding Modern Bermuda. The lecture series will be held on successive Tuesdays starting January 15 at 6:00 pm, through to February 5, at the Dr EF Gordon Memorial Hall, Bermuda Industrial Union Building. The four lectures cover the following areas:
1. 15 January Part 1: The Legacy of the Past
2. 22 January Part 2: Trade Unionism, Desegregation and the Vote
3. 29 January Part 3: Party Politics and Ideology
4. 5 February Part 4: 21st Century Politics
Mr Brown taught history and politics at Bermuda College from 1988-2000 and is the author of Bermuda and the Struggle for Reform: Race, Politics and Ideology, 1944-1998 (Cahow Press: 2011) and “Examining Bermuda’s Legislature: Reflections on Why Size Matters” in Nicholas DJ Baldwin (editor) Legislatures of Small States: A Comparative Study (Routledge: 2012). His BA (Hons) and Masters degrees are in political scince.
There is a $5 requested, but not obligatory, donation to cover the room rental. Mr Brown’s book will be available for purchase.
