'There is no off-season for ponies'
Ann, which is owned by Ricky Wilkinson and run out of Tanglewood Stables, ran a 1:05 flat this season.
Wilkinson believes the mare can run in the 1:04s.
"This year was fantastic. She exceeded all my expectations. Out of the two stake races I entered her in, she placed in both of them and she ran two her personal best times since I had her."
Wilkinson bought IC from Aaron Sims two years.
He said the difference this year was "we stepped up our training. We were more dedicated this year. In the past I skipped a few days when it was raining, but this year - rain, blow or shine, we went out."
Wilkinson, a 10-year veteran of pony racing, said he always enjoys racing Eddie Roque.
"He pushes me to work harder, train harder and drive harder."
He added: "This is a 365 days a year job. You're working, you're taking care of these horses - even when you're not racing. There's no off-season."[[In-content Ad]]
