WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2: The ruling PLP has drafted in some fresh faces for the next General Election, while the new OBA is also set to field new candidates alongside existing MPs from the former UBP and BDA.

The OBA has yet to announce candidates in most areas, while a likely increase in the number of Independent candidates, unhappy with the existing two-party system, might throw a wrench in the works of both major parties.

1. St George’s North

Incumbent: Education Minister Dame Jennifer Smith. Set to fight the seat again.

2. St George’s West

Incumbent: Kim Swan, elected for the UBP, refused to join the new OBA, so will face a three-way tussle to hold on to the seat.

3. St David’s

Incumbent: The PLP’s Lovitta Foggo is set to retain the candidacy.

4. St George’s South

Incumbent: Donte Hunt – now a member of the OBA – is expected to fight the seat again.

5. Hamilton East

Incumbent: Deputy Premier Derrick Burgess has one of the island’s safest seats and will fight again.

6. Hamilton West

Incumbent: Wayne Furbert won the seat for the UBP and later crossed the floor to the PLP. Will stand again, but could face a stiff challenge from the new OBA.

7. Hamilton South

Incumbent: Darius Tucker won for the UBP, but crossed the floor to the PLP. He has been replaced as candidate by Diallo Rabain.

8. Smith’s South

Incumbent: Cole Simons, who won for the UBP, will stand for the OBA.

Incumbent: Trevor Moniz, who won for the UBP, will stand for the OBA.

Incumbent: Bob Richards won for the UBP and switched to the OBA. Will stand again.

Incumbent: OBA leader Craig Cannonier last night won the safe seat vacated by John Barritt.

Incumbent: Government Minister Wayne Perinchief, replaced as candidate by ex-PLP Senator Walton Brown.

Incumbent: Sitting MP Elvin James to retire. Former Government Senator David Burch will fight the seat.

Incumbent: Mark Pettingill won the seat for the UBP, switched to the BDA and now with the OBA. He is likely to be replaced by the former UBP approved candidate Jeff Sousa (see page 4).
