Sun, surf and sand for doubles tournament

There will be a round robin beach tennis tournament this Sunday at Horseshoe Beach. The entry fee is $10 and prizes will be awarded in four categories: men’s doubles, ladies doubles, mixed doubles and kids doubles.

Prizes include dinners at Latin, Fairmont bags and beach towels as well as a dinner at Bacci and a one-night stay at the Fairmont Southampton. Other prizes include a case of Dos Equis, a case of Sol and one bottle of Lanson Champagne.

The tournament is from 2pm to 5pm

On July 24, the Coppertone Beach Tournament will also take place at Horseshoe Beach. This will be both for beach volleyball and beach tennis. The volleyball division will feature two-a-side A Division and four-a-side B Division. Both are co-ed.

The Third Annual Bermuda Beach Tennis Tournament is scheduled for August 27 to 29 at Horseshoe Beach.

The star-studded matches will feature men’s and women’s pro-beach tennis players, including the number one ranked team of Alex Mingozzi and Matteo Marighella on the men’s circuit and Federica Bacchetta for women’s.

This is the first year the Bermuda Department of Tourism will partner with the International Tennis Federation to sponsor this event.
