Smith's favourites for title

Teams will be fighting for playoff spots as the Premier Basketball League heads into its final regular season games this weekend.

The Smith's Wild Cats are the favourites as St. George's International are fighting injuries. St. George's is usually a sure bet to make the finals so the key is how they recover from all the bumps and bruises they are suffering.

The two dark horses - at this point - are Pembroke Cane Toads and the Hamilton Tsunamis. Both squads are capable of playing with anyone in the league when they have their full squad available.

In last weekend's action, the Tsunami's slipped past St. George's 50 to 46 as Jon Noseworthy pumped in 18 points. Dean Jones countered with 17 points for St. George's.

Behind Akil Smith's 17 points, the Devonshire Dragons beat the Paget Bear Cats 49 to 41. Chris Crumpler had 24 points in the losing cause.

In one of the season's most exciting games, the Southampton Titans outlasted the Warwicker Rim Rockers 49 to 47 in overtime. Leyde St. Legere had 17 points for the Titans.
