SATURDAY, AUGUST 4: Tyrone Smith pulled off a huge last effort in the long jump final, only to see the red flag go up signifying he had fouled.
Smith was 12th going into his final jump and needed a leap of 7.93 metres to gain three more jumps as one of the top eight.
His leap was certainly long enough, well clearing the 8 metre mark, but he had fouled, ending his Olympics in London.
Smith had qualified for the final the previous day and was going last of the 12 athletes in the final.
After the first round he was sixth with a leap of 7.70 metres.
Smith got the crowd to help him out by clapping, but on his second leap, he fouled when his toes were over the board.
After his foul, the television cameras cut to Bermuda track and field legend Brian Wellman in the crowd.
After his last attempt, Smith looked disappointed but still thanks the crowd for their support.
