Six to watch in this year's Classic
Here we've compiled a quick guide with six players to watch this year.
Anthony Foley
Number Eight, Age 35, Classic Lions
Munster legend Foley scored a try on his debut for Ireland and went on to play 62 times for his country.
He is also the most capped player in the Heineken Cup - rugby's equivalent of the Champions League - having played in the competition 81 times for Munster.
He captained Ireland three times and last played for them in the 2005 Six
Nations.
Chrisitian Califano
Prop, Age 36, France
With 73 appearances for France, Califano is one of the most capped internationals in the tournament.
He still plays at a high level in the English Guinness Premiership for Gloucester and is expected to be one of the key players in a strong France team.
Breyton Paulse
Winger, Age 32, South Africa
Super-fast winger Breyton Paulse will probably be the quickest player in the tournament.
Capped 64 times for the Springboks, Paulse is a former schools 200m and 400m champion.
He played for South Africa in the 2003 World Cup and was a reserve in 2007. He still plays Super 14 rugby for Stormers.
Jeremy Paul
Hooker, Age 31, Australia
The burly hooker, capped more than 70 times for Australia, was actually born in New Zealand.
He was part of Australia's 1999 World Cup winning side and also won two Super 12 titles with his club side Brumbies.
He won the John Eales medal - awarded to the Aussie player of the year - in 2005.
Bobby Skinstad
Flanker, Age 32, South Africa
The former South Africa captain still plays top-level rugby for Natal Sharks and represented the Springboks at the last World Cup.
He scored 50 points in 38 internationals for his country but developed a reputation in the press as a 'show pony'.
He was also a regular for the Barbarians and captained them on numerous occasions.
Shayne Byrne
Hooker, Age 36, Lions
Renowned as the owner of the 'most celebrated mullet' in the world of rugby and more flatteringly as the most accurate lineout thrower in the world, Byrne is one of the stars of the Lions team.
He's Leinster's most capped player and also played 41 times for Ireland. Through his rugby career he continued to work for the family waste-disposal
firm.[[In-content Ad]]
