Patrick Singleton was left to rue what might have been following last week's Intercontinental Cup skeleton competion in Lake Placid.

The Olympic hopeful finished 22nd overall - a performance he was far from pleased with.

He said: "It was frustrating as I could have finished inside the top 13. Racing was very close - a lot of athletes were less than one tenth of a second apart."

Singleton was ranked 70th in the world rankings going into last week's event and needs to be among the top 60 in order to qualify for next month's Winter Games in Vancouver.

He is competing this week in Calgary where he has grave concerns.

"The weather is getting very warm and will heat up the ice over the next few days making it (track) softer," Singleton added. "The warm winds will slow the race track down and this will not suit my equipment set up. I'm praying the temperature somehow cools dramatically."
