A taste of the world is now being offered at the revamped Indigo restaurant.

The island’s foodies are being tempted by tapas-style dishes such as lamp lollipops, Bermuda onion and tomato tart, brie en croute and Greek pizza.

The restaurant, in Flatts, has a new chef and revitalized menu as well as a contemporary new look.

Belcario Thomas, project manager, said: “The owner of Indigo hired a new management team to give the restaurant a fresh, fun, inviting ambiance, completely renovating the downstairs casual dining area with cocktail bar, sushi and outdoor patio, in addition to the upstairs formally relaxed dining room with terrace water views of Flatts Village.”

Concept

The makeover took two months.

Mr. Thomas said: “It was behind-the-scenes work on creating the concept, menu, new staffing, recent renovations including new paint jobs, increased parking, taste-testing and so on, although much of it is ongoing as we seek to constantly evolve the restaurant.

“We’ll be starting happy hour on the patio in May with our own special Indigo sangria blend, complimentary nibbles and chilled music.

“We’ll have chef cook-offs, Tex-Mex barbecues on the terrace, visiting inter-national chefs for private in-kitchen dining and other special food events.”

The biggest change is to the menu.

Mr. Thomas said: “It’s small plates of global cuisine designed for sharing.

“You get to sample any combination of dishes — usually four or five are enough for two people.

“To complement, our boutique wines are offered at less than $40 per bottle or $8 per glass to make this concept a really fun way to enjoy a new dining experience.” Each category of food has at least 15 selections of “tasty global cuisine”.

The prices range from $15 for meat and seafood, $12 for vegetables or vegetarian and $10 for a bowl or basket.

Mr. Thomas said the restaurant wants to attract a “clientele who are foodies, residents in the east central vicinity starved for choice and those looking to have fun, enjoyable experience while they dine”.

Speaking about why people should try Indigo, he said: “Under new management, with a new chef, new food and wine menu, new layout, new foodie events, fresh new look and feel both inside and outside, Indigo Restaurant in Flatts Village is now open.”
