THURSDAY, DEC. 1: If success breeds success, then the bermuda.com’s 12 Days of Christmas shopping promotion will have the cash register bells ringing.
Retailers are already off to their best Christmas season start ever with a widely successful Black Friday sale last week.
Wednesday saw the start of the 12 Days of Christmas promo with Brown & Co and Animal & Garden being the first retailers to get in on the act.
Bermuda.com, which is a sister company to the Bermuda Sun, said it has more than double the number of participating retailers in 2011 compared to 2010.
All eight of the stores from the 2010 pilot have returned to be a part of the multimedia promotion, while ten more have joined.
Glenn Jones, bermuda.com general manager, said: “The response from consumers last year far exceeded our expectations so now the bar is set very high for 2011.
“We are redoubling our efforts on the web, on social media, on the radio and in print to turn out shoppers.
“Meantime, our retail partners are answering the call with incredibly enticing offers.
“We’ve set the stage for a very successful campaign.”
There are 12 specific days to shop and certain hours of the day that discounts will be offered.
A disc jockey is part of the bermuda.com field team, playing music in the store as consumers shop.
Festive
The participating retailers are: Brown & Co., P-Tech, Annex Toys, Gibbons Company, Hunt’s, Lusso, Boutique CC and 27th Century Boutique – all returning from last year. This year the additions are: Animal & Garden House, World on Wireless, AS Cooper Harbourside, Phoenix Centre, Easy Park, Luxury for Less, Masters, Fairmont Golf, ER Aubrey and CellOne.
Paula Clarke, Gibbons Company CEO and retail chair for the Chamber of Commerce, said: “Last year’s event was a real hit with Gibbons Company customers.
“They truly enjoyed the very festive and enhanced atmosphere of music while they shopped along with the very special event deals that were offered.”
