Putting your energy in the right places

June is a time when we are all looking to relax and seeking out that fun family or exotic vacation. During the summer months we spend a ton of energy outside exploring our island or the world. So this month, our life skill word of the month is energy. You only have so much energy and time for each day's activities. You can divide your energy among many small tasks or use more of it to achieve what you really want.

You won't be successful all the time, but if you focus your energy on achieving your goals, then you will be successful. You can let failure act as a roadblock that stands between you and your goals and your happiness, or you can dust yourself off and try again. Here is a famous quote from Oprah Winfrey "Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how you're going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal, and by maintaining focus."

Many people in our society spend so much energy on things that won't improve their quality of life. For example, it takes a lot of energy to participate in fitness kickboxing or personal protection classes.

However, fitness kickboxing or personal protection class will BENEFIT you. It will improve your self confidence which in turn, will improve your quality of life.

Where ever you put your energy make sure you have the end result in mind FIRST. Don't waste your energy on activities that won't ultimately improve your quality of life. Earning your Black belt takes a huge amount of energy and it's worth it. Not everyone has a Black belt so it's a rewarding achievement.

Parents we need to educate our children on where they should concentrate their energy. Here are some quality ideas for children to focus their energy on with the end result in mind. Teach them to focus their energy on education, reading, leadership, Acts of Kindness, character building and community service.

Hey gang next month we will focus on another life skill as we explore the martial arts world.

Until next time![[In-content Ad]]
