Public urged to conserve water
FRIDAY. MAY 6: Minister of Public Works Derrick Burgess today advised the public to be conscious of water conservation and to be considerate when ordering water.
Bermuda is 7.3 inches behind the average yearly rainfall to date and many residents are running low on water.
Minister Burgess said: “The public is advised to take water conservation steps as we continue to experience low rainfall conditions. Homeowners should monitor water use and check tank levels early to prevent running out. Water should be ordered BEFORE running out and the public are asked to be considerate when ordering water and order only what is critically necessary so that supply can reach all those in need.”
Minister Burgess also said the Government is in communication with the water service providers and is working with them to maintain supply. However demand on the system remains high and some outlets are currently on limited availability due to the demand.
The Government thanks the public for their continued cooperation and again urges all to conserve water and to exercise patience and consideration when ordering water.[[In-content Ad]]
