Power outage affected 1,300 customers
FRIDAY, JANUARY 25: The weather briefly knocked out electricity to 1,300 customers in Hamilton parish this morning.
A BELCO spokesperson said there were two outages, one near Claytown and one in Crawl.
“Collectively, they affect about 1,300 customers. Both occurred just after six o’clock in the morning. Most of the customers were restored within 90 minutes but about 200 were off for about two hours and 55 minutes because there was some equipment that had to replaced.
“Both outages were weather related.”
The wind was the cause of one of the outages while lightening could be the cause for the other, but the spokesperson said that was not confirmed.
