Powell's double-double leads Parish to win

Hamilton Parish picked up the first victory in the CellularOne Basketball League with a convincing 66 to 46 triumph over Somerset Flyers. Chae Powell led the way for the Chargers with a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds. Ray Sillar had five rebounds.

The Paget Bearcats had little difficulty in slipping past the Pembroke Cane Toads with Chris Crumpler pouring in 40 points and Dale Butler cleaning the glass for 11 boards.

Lee Greene led the Toads with 20 points while Greg Todd has 11 rebounds.

Tatem Ford had 31 points as the Warwick Rim Rockers completely shutdown the Devonshire Dragons 56 to 18. Derrick Hendrickson's 18 rebounds for Warwick was three more than Devonshire's top three board men. Ian Lim had 13 of Devonshire's points.

The best game of the opening weekend saw The Southampton Titans slip past St. George's International 54 to 49. Shannon Dyer had 16 points for Titans while team-mate Brad Meinderema had five rebounds. Dean Jones had 13 points and 12 points for St. George's.

Smith's Wildcats shutdown Hamilton Tsunamis 59 to 44. National team players Steven Simons (25 points) and Ryan Rabain (20 rebounds) led the Wildcats while Seward Smith (15 points) and Shawn Palmer (9 boards) were the team leaders for Hamilton.
