Police warning: Remain vigilant about burglaries
TUESDAY, FEB. 21: Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. Recently there have been a number of burglaries reported in various parishes throughout the island. As a result, the public is encouraged to make sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time.
In addition, the public is reminded to secure their cars by locking all doors and windows before leaving their vehicles unattended.
We also continue to recommend that all residents secure their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers of all items and take pictures of their possessions. In particular, make note of electronic equipment and jewelry - so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them.
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods to the police by contacting 295-0011. Finally, the public is reminded that receiving stolen property is an offence punishable under the law.
