THURSDAY, JANUARY 10: On Saturday 12th January 2013, the Bermuda Police Rugby Football Club will host the George Duckett Memorial Rugby tournament at Police Field, Prospect, Devonshire. This is the 40th year since the inaugural Duckett Memorial rugby match took place. The schedule of games is as follows:

• 2:15pm – Women’s First Team

George Duckett was a former Commissioner of Police who was assassinated in 1972. He was a popular Commissioner and a larger than life man at 6’5” tall, from Lancaster UK. He was also an ardent rugby fan.
In 1973, the Police Rugby Section commenced an annual memorial game which is at present the longest running memorial game in Bermuda. Former colleagues and ‘Faded Blues’ (former police rugby players) continue to show their respect by attending this police sporting tradition.
Awards, including the Duckett Memorial trophy, will be presented at the end of the day’s competition. In addition, there will be refreshments provided afterwards in the Prospect Police Recreation Club main hall. Everyone is invited to attend!
