P&M sweeps championships, finishes season undefeated

Women's Legaue

P&M Electicutes 22, Café Cairo 15

Anti Williams went 5-5 as P&M swept the series. Williams and Carla Zuill (3-5) drove in three runs in the win. Team-mates Tiffany Dawson (4-4)Sheila Legacy (3-4), Dawna Ferguson (3-4) and Stephanie Rego (3-4) all had good turns at the plate.

Sarah Robinson (3-5) homered and drove in five runs for Cairo. Trish Crow (3-4), Rachel O'Connor (3-5)), Diane Laird (4-5) and Ash Lopes (3-4) all swung the bat well for Cairo.

P&M finished the season with a 17-0 record.

A Division

Tuff Dogs 23, Southlands 16

Tuff Dogs moved to within a game of claiming the championship thanks to an 11-run sixth inning. Jermaine Jeffers (5-5, 4 RBI) started the inning off with a single and it wouldn't be until the 10th batter of the inning that Southlands would record an out.

Kev Taylor powered two homers and collected six RBI for the Dogs. John Ray and Paul Aviles were both 4-5 while Carla Zuill, Jon Gazard, and Andrew Soares were all 3-5.

Leading the way for Southlands was Mark Herauf (3-5) who hit a first inning grand slam. Greg Carey and Monte Palsat were both 4-5 while Joe Barrosso and Shannon Gosse were a combined perfect 9-9.

A/B Division

ACE 19, Marsh 4

Dan Sullivan's three-run homer in the first helped ACE out to an early lead that Marsh never challenged. Brice Pursell was 3-3 for Marsh, including a three-run homer, but he had half the team's hits.

Les Dziwenka, Sam Peters and Kamal Williams were all 4-4 while Don Burgess (3-3) and Stephanie Boivin (3-4) contributed to the win.

D Division

Olympia 29, Argus 21

Olympia clinched their series by scoring 23 runs in the first four innings to coast to the triumph. Dean Douglas was 6-6, Shawn Wood and Dwayne Basden (2 HR, 6 RBI) were both 5-6. Peter Liabotis was 5-5 with a homer.

Tory Richard led Argus by going 4-5 with two homers and 5 RBI.[[In-content Ad]]
