PLP Congratulates US President Barack Obama

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7: “In the United States, you saw an incumbent President win re-election because he stood strong for Americans. Instead of engaging in deep and radical austerity cuts, President Barack Obama invested in the American people and created opportunities. He expanded the social safety net with a landmark healthcare reform law that ensures that all Americans have access to quality care.

“Does this sound familiar? Here in Bermuda, we have one party that is standing strong for Bermudians by investing in our people and rejecting deep and radical austerity cuts. We have one party that dramatically expanded the social safety net by introducing the landmark FutureCare and DayCare programmes.

“We are encouraged by President Obama’s resounding re-election and we look forward to offering a similar choice to the Bermudian people.
