Perozzi’s skill too much for the Sexy Mex

Round by round, Bermudian champ dominated her opponent Teresa Perozzi easily defended her NABC world middleweight title last Saturday night at CedarBridge Academy against Martha “Sexy Mex” Deitchman. Don Burgess takes you through the round by round action.

Round 1: Perozzi, dressed in a white tank top and light pink shorts, comes out focused, eyeing Deitchman as she stalks her across the ring. Bermuda's champ lets fly a barrage of combos that has the “Sexy Mex” backed into the neutral corner. Deitchman looks a bit out of shape as she sports a bit of a belly under her lime green top. The challenger doesn’t back down, but and cuts Perozzi, but it’s the champ who controls the pace. Perozzi wins 10-9 on all three judges scorecards.

Round 2: Deitchman moves across the ring at the sound of the bell, but Perozzi stops the advance with a single left to the face. Perozzi continually lands punches to both the head and the body, which Deitchman takes like a shock absorber.

Perozzi wins 10-9 on all three judges scorecards.

Round 3: The Champ starts to mix it up a bit more with some feigns, ducking under shots and firing left uppercuts to Deitchman's face. Perozzi works the body more and follows that with head shots. Perozzi wins the round 10-9.

Round 4: More of the same as Perozzi peppers the now not-so “Sexy Mex” with both head and body shots. Deitchman's face looks battered and sweaty, but she keeps taking a pounding from Perozzi without giving in.

Perozzi gets a 10-9 from the judges.

Round 5: Another round that is barely indistinguishable from the previous four. Perozzi's dictates the action as she moves Deitchman like a puppet around the ring as she rains down body and head shots. Perozzi is still ducking under the challenger's punches then firing back up with left upper cuts.

The Champ gets a 10-9 from the judges.

Round 6: The challenger looks a bit more aggressive, but she still couldn't match Perozzi blow for blow.

Perozzi goes 10-9 on all three scorecards.

Round 7: With her chances of winning the title now fully resting on a knockout, Deitchman comes out firing. The champ stands toe-to-toe with her as they trade blows. It is the first time that Perozzi looks a bit tired and not as focused as she had been in the last six rounds. Perozzi's previous longest fight was her six round demolition of Trinidadian Scroller Carrington. She backs Perozzi into the ropes. The last 30 seconds sees a tired Deitchman dropping one arm as the Champ fires in some lefts and combos to salvage the round. Judge Clevelyn Crichlow gives the round to Deitchman while Perozzi goes 10-10 on the other two scorecards.

Round 8: The best round of the night as the two tired warriors slug it out. The challenger's hoped pinned on the fading hope that she can put Teresa on her back. Perozzi battles back using well-timed clinches to stop the assault, regroup and start her own attack.

Deitchman gets a 10-10 tie on judge Vic Richmond's scorecard and 10-9 on the other two.

The unanimous decision goes 80-73, 80-72, 80-73 for Perozzi.[[In-content Ad]]
