It was inevitable.

Both the Paget Bearcats and St. George's International went through the regular season as the best teams.

St. George's lost their first game and then look headed to winning the regular season title when Paget tripped them up.

Now Internatials will get a chance to get revenge as they meet in the final tomorrow night at MSA at 8:30pm.

CellularOne league administrator Kenny Simmons is thrilled with the outcome.

He said in a press release: "The CellularOne league has exceeded our expectations as far as competitiveness and sportsmanship. We have been able to accomplish our objective in putting basketball in the minds of people. Each team has created there own respective fan base. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to all fans who have shown their support throughout our season. We would encourage all to come out and support what's going to be an exciting final between two great teams.

The Paget Bearcats is lead by their 6'4" guard and coach Chris Crumpler. He is also a member of the national team, and head coach for CedarBridge Academy.

Crumpler was the league's MVP.

Coach Crumpler expressed his team strengths will be in 6'6" power forward Aaron Jackson who is long and athletic. Jackson has just completed his freshman season where he played basketball for Lakehead University in Canada.

The rest of the Bearcats are high school players from CedarBridge Academy lead by Richard Warner, who has averaged 18 points a game this season.

Warner is quick and an athletic aggressive scorer as well as a solid defender. Crumpler said "Our big bruiser is Jonathan Lowe, who is slowly becoming one of the premier big men on the island at 6'5" and 230lbs.

Crumpler said: "Our aggressive style on offence and defence is what helped us get to the finals and we look to continue that going forward. St. Georges is a big team, and they have great players Damon Saunders and Dean Jones who are both national team players, along with Charjuan Knight arguably the best centre on the island as well as he has the ability of a good guard, which we will have to watch closely.

St. George's player-coach Pushkin Douglas stated that the Internationals are a well rounded team with a strong frontcourt and an equally talented backcourt. Charjuan Knight and Dean Jones provide great offence and excellent defence in the low post. Their presence deters most teams from venturing into the key. Alan Saunders and Johnny Lugo keep defenses on their toes with slashing, cutting and 3 pointers.

Pushkin said: "With these two it helps complete a balance attack with superior ball movement and stiff defense. St. George's hopes to make three times the charm with their third championship in a row.

He added: "Without Chris they become kittens . The key to defeating the Paget Bearcats is to limit Crumpler's shot attempts and contesting each shot.[[In-content Ad]]
