The ship originated in Texas City, near Houston, where she filled up with 40,000 tonnes of diesel and gas before setting off across the Gulf of Mexico towards Bermuda.
Kongo Star is one of the newest models of chemical tanker in operation, having been built in July 2010.
She remained in the east end for a day as gasoline was siphoned off the vessel for RUBiS.
Barrels
This is the fuel that will end up in our cars and motorbikes.
Yesterday, the tanker took the short voyage across to Dockyard, where she delivered thousands of barrels of diesel.
Kongo Star is due to leave the island early this morning, when she will head back across the Atlantic for the U.S.
She will be then be filled up again and tasked with her next voyage, which is likely to be in the Caribbean.
As Kongo Star makes her way home she will probably pass the Somers Isle as she sails into Hamilton.
The container ship will be in town until Friday, when she heads back to Florida.
The Bermuda Islander is due in tomorrow morning as per her usual weekly schedule.
Finally, St. George’s will continue to host the research vessel Lone Ranger until the end of the week.
The ship is due to set sail again on Saturday so her crew can continue their studies into pollutants in the Atlantic Ocean.
