Now's your chance to get into karting
The season starts in a month and organizers are looking to get as many people as possible out racing.
They're calling on anyone who used to be involved in the sport or who has an interest in racing to come to their meeting at Spanish Point Boat Club tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Karting club president Kareem Johnson said the aim was to build the sport back up at the new Southside track.
The karters used to race at Morgan's Point but were forced to take a year off when that facility was closed before restarting late last year at the new motorsports centre in St. David's.
Johnson said: "We had a really good season for our first year back.
"Now we want to get it back up to what it was a few years ago, before we stopped.
"Last year was a rebuilding year. This time we are definitely looking to get more people out and grow the numbers."
He said potential racers had to have their own kart. But anyone who was interested in starting could make some contacts and find out about how to get hold of second hand karts or parts at the meeting.
"There are a bunch of karts that are up for sale so even if you haven't got your own, it's worth coming to the meeting and finding out a bit more."
He said the aim of the meeting was to get the drivers together, go over the proposed schedule and get people up to date with any rule changes.[[In-content Ad]]
