The staff spent seven months completing a training programme designed by the local management team.
It required a minimum of 27 hours course work, mostly provided by Digicel’s senior management, on topics such as public speaking, leadership and customer service.
Participants also had to propose ideas for improving the company, with this year’s winner suggesting a staff lunch scheme to help employees eat healthier and more affordably.
The graduates are from all departments, ranging from technical and finance to customer care and sales.
Wayne Caines, Digicel Bermuda CEO, and all departmental directors provided an in-depth view of their operations.
External experts also contributed, including Derek Smith from the Bermuda Careers Centre, who conducted a course on exemplary customer service and business etiquette.
Twenty-three Digicel employees have now graduated from the Leadership Institute and many of them have since been promoted.
Dynamic
Mr. Caines said: “I am very proud of and commend the nine employees who dedicated their personal time to stay after regular hours to further their learning of the telecommunication industry and of our very own dynamic company through our Digicel Leadership Institute.
“The entrepreneurial nature of this company and the enthusiasm of the employees to grow professionally explains why Digicel Bermuda was voted the eighth best place to work in Bermuda this year.
“In addition to local training opportunities we continually send our staff overseas.
“The management team has high expectations for the graduates and we hope to see them advance their careers at Digicel.”
