CellularOne has a new look following its merger with M3 Wireless.

The company will now be known as CellOne and use purple as its branding colour instead of red.

The firm ditched the red in favour of a colour symbolizing “passion and friendship”.

The telecommunications company opened its new retail store at 18 Church Street, across from the City Hall parking lot, on Saturday.

Walter Roban, Minister of the Environment, Planning and Infrastructure, officially opened the new store on Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new store offers interactive displays and customer service stations in 2,000 sq ft of space.

There are nine stations for retail staff and customers to try out the latest smartphones.

Frank Amaral, CellOne CEO, said: “It is only fitting that the new company be given a new look. We feel the colour purple evokes passion and friendship, much like our employees at CellOne and the people of Bermuda.

“As the only majority Bermudian-owned mobile wireless provider it is the perfect choice with which to outfit our new company.

“Our new retail store is the biggest and most modern wireless retail space on the island. We welcome everyone to come in and browse and talk to our customer service representatives about our phones and service.”

He added: “Our store and new look is only the beginning of more good things to come.”

CellOne is offering special promotions to celebrate the grand opening of its new store — the BlackBerry Curve for $99 and the iPhone 3GS for $299.

They will also give away iPads and Playbooks throughout the week.

The company has a 50 per cent share of the telecommunications market and is going head-to-head with Digicel to be the top cellphone provider in Bermuda.
