New website to celebrate young athletes' achievements

The new site www.islandstats.com/bssf will cover a full range of sports of all ages and genders and is sponsored by Digicel Bermuda.

Islandstats COO Earl Basden said: “Promoting sports has always been a passion of mine, and in particular promoting the youth who are our future ‐ on and off the field.

“As a father of two young boys, I am also personally keen to see that Bermuda’s young people are encouraged away from some of the negative aspects of our community, and to positive ones which include sports of all genres.”

He continued: "I hope the young people like having their very own media outlet where their achievements will be highlighted.”

Digicel CEO Wayne Caines added: “There is copious amounts of evidence to show that children are balanced and well adjusted if there is a harmonious development between the mental, physical and spiritual elements within their lives.

“We believe that there are several holistic sporting events taking place on our island, and that there are hundreds of Bermudian children engaged in positive sporting activities.

“The school sports website is an excellent initiative to showcase and highlight the positive elements within our Country.”

A press statement said: “With up‐to‐the minute results and statistics, as well as comprehensive photo galleries, www.islandstats.com/bssf will be highlighting and promoting young athletes on the island, giving them and their family a dedicated service.”
