National pride on the line for the BISYS boys

There is no intense hatred in this French-American rivalry, but Mike Totman is promising to put down Mustafa Rial in the second round of their fight.

The pair are accountants at BISYS and their bout initially started out as a ‘joke.’

Totman said he decided to take part in Fight Night because “I knew a few people who had done this in the past and they said it had been pretty fun.

“Mustafa and I were talking about and thought this was the right time to do it.”

Totman said that he and Rial are good friends and arrived on the island around the same time.

Totman said that at two inches taller and 10 to 15 pounds heavier, he definitely has an advantage over his French friend.

“I got a good look at him in training. He’s a loose cannon.

“I have a strategy to control that and use it to my advantage. “ I’m expecting to take him in the second round and that'’ giving him the benefit of the doubt that he can make it through the first round.”

He said there were side bets in the BISYS office as to who was going to win the fight. Bragging rights and pride are on the line.

Rial put down Totman’s comments as American braggadocio.

He plans on wearing his French jersey in the ring to show his national pride..

“This started out as a joke, but now it’s my first fight. I’ve never been in front of an audience.”

Rial did do some boxing in unversity, but never actually had a real fight. He said there’s always a healthy “competition between us especially because of the French-U.S. connection.”

When told that Totman said that Rial was a bit of a wildman in training, Rial said “we’ll see because I’m counting on spontaneity. It's not going to happen - I don't think so. I know what he’s going to try to do — just hit me pretty hard, but I’m going to tire him out. His confidence is pretty high, which is typical for an American, but it’s typical for the French to be arrogant.”[[In-content Ad]]
