THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10: It was a night for the underdog at the Rugby Classic.
Argentina bravely held on to a slender two point lead to edge out the Springboks, while the Canadians pulled off the shock of the tournament by dumping the Australians out of the main competition.
The two sides will now meet in the semi-finals on Friday in what is sure to be bruising encounter.
The Puma's display was based on aggressive tackling and commitment.
They scored the first try of the game within 10 minutes, knocked over a difficult conversion and then held on for grim life.
The blue and whites tackled themselves to a standstill and conceded just the one try.
Their celebrations at the final whistle showed just how much the 7-5 win meant to them.
The Canadians, inspired by the Pumas display, came out of the traps like wild bulls and found themselves 12-0 up after 10 minutes.
The Aussies hit back with two tries of their own just before half time.
But there was still time before the break for the Maple Leafs to strike again and take a 19-10 lead.
The Wallabies made all the running in the second half and drew to within four points with their third try ten minutes from time.
But it proved not be enough as the Canadians held on with some incredible last ditch tackles to secure a famous win.
This evening the Classic Lions take on the All Blacks, while the U.S. Eagles play the Italians.
