Mackerel and Snappers to roll off for Fishbowl championship

Mackerel and Snappers will be rolling off at Warwick Lanes on Thursday night to decide who will win the Fishbowl League title.

Both teams finished on 65.5 points. Last week drew 2-2 with Cow Pollies.

The Marlins were winning the league, but they dropped a 3-1 decision to Barracuda to fall all the way to third.

Snappers finished tied for first with a 3-1 victory over Jellyfish.

Other scores saw Porgies and Wahoo tie 2-2; Piranhas and Goldfish split their games; Hinds downed Tuna 3-1 thanks in part to having the league’s highest handicap series with a 2,364. Orca slipped out of last with a 3-1 triumph over Dolphins.

On a night when big games were needed, Jackie Miller was the top bowler with a 237 scratch game and a 668 scratch and handicap series.

Clifford Maxwell (215), Francis DeSilva (214), Bobby DeGraff 9212) and Stephen Paul also rolled 200s.

Alpheus Santucci bowled well with a 663 handicap series. David Mello and Francis DeSilva both rolled a 658.

Patrice Tucker had a 194 game and finished the year with the highest female average with a 184. Cathee Tumbridge (185) and Sandra Ford (178) also bowled well.

Vernelle Harvey had the highest handicap series with a 612. Tumbridge (606) was the only other woman above 600.

Richard Zuill had the highest men’s average with a 191 while Gladwin Harvey (186( and Carlos Estravit (184) also had a great year.

Final standings: 1. Mackerel 65.5-46.5; 2. Snappers 65.5-46.5; 3. Marlins 65-47; 4. Barracuda 64-48; 5. Piranhas 60.5-51.5; 6. Porgies 60-52; 7. Jellyfish 60-52; 8. Wahoo 55.5-56.5; 9. Goldfish 55.5-56.5; 10. Hinds 50.5-61.5; 11. Cow Pollies 47-65; 12. Tuna 45-67; 13. Orca 44.5-67.5; 14. Dolphins 43-69.
