The popular shop will be moving into its new location at the Washington Mall next month. Secrets last day in its current spot will be October 30, which will allow it to pick up Hallowe’en sales.
Owner Stacy Hill said this is one of its busiest times of the year and to have to close down the last week in October would have put a damper on sales during one of its three busiest periods of the year.
It’s not moving far, but the new location on the upper walkway of the Washington Mall will give its customers a bit more privacy, so the move will be a good one says Ms Hill.
Plus it is currently nestled between two shops that cater to children, which just is not suitable for either its clients or the clients of the other stores.
“Our customers find the current location is very exposed. We have a lot traffic by children through here between three and five because they’re at the candy store and Pirates’ Port Junior is next door, so our new location will be comparable in size to what we have now, but it will give us more privacy.”
Secrets will move into the space formerly occupied by Locomotion.
“Our customers were telling us since we renovated ‘It’s too open’. We didn’t think it was that much of a change, but some people felt too exposed.”
The changeover will take about one week with Secrets re-opening on Monday, November 8.
“We decided to stay here even though that location was available because we are really busy through Hallowe’en. For us to move in this move would have been really hard.
“Hallowe’en is on par with Valentine’s and Christmas. It’s one of our busiest periods. It’s really takes over the store at this time of the year.”
Ms Hill wanted to allay any fears about people scrambling for the last minute costume.
“We’ll be open right through 5pm on October 30.”
She said the store hours will stay the same 10am to 5pm, but because it is on the walkway, it will allow for special promotions after hours.
“That location will give us access to open late to do functions, because we don’t have to worry about the security doors. It also makes it easier if we want to stay open later to wait for customers because sometimes they just can’t get here in time. It just makes it easier for us to have access through the gate.”
