Letter - What a load of horse s**t!

Dear Sir,

Why is it that horse owners/riders in the Shelly Bay area are exempt from picking up their horse's poop when I, as a responsible dog owner, always pick up my dog's poop?

There seems to be an increasing number of horses being exercised at Shelly Bay park with plenty of droppings being left behind along the beach, football pitches and trails.

Also, the horses' hooves dig deep imprints in the football pitch which have become waterlogged with the recent rain and will become even more dangerous when the ground hardens.

So why is it dog owners are constantly reminded to scoop their dog poop and yet it's deemed socially acceptable to have horse poop - so gently referred to as 'manure' - left behind to rot on our paths and recreational areas?
