Letter - Vesey took a 'cheap shot' at Dr. Brown

‘What they are doing to Dr. Brown they did to Jesus’

Dear Sir,

I have been buying the Bermuda Sun for years and will continue to do so. However, this is my first time writing to you.

I confess to you that I am biased towards the Progressive Labour Party.

That being the case, I used to look forward to the columns of Stuart Hayward and Tom Vesey to provide a sense of balance to my way of thinking.

I used to consider them as objective thinkers and writers, so their views used to help keep me on a more balanced path.

Since the departure (for what-ever reason) of Mr. Hayward from the Sustainable Development Board, he has made a ninety degree turn.

In other words, he is a changed man.

If you should remove his picture and name from his columns now, one can easily attribute them to Christian Dunleavy or Fred Barritt.

As for Mr. Vesey, coming into the last election, he got caught up into the UBP blues and like them became obsessed and drunk with the idea of the UBP winning an election.

In his most recent column in the Bermuda Sun, June 20th, 2008; "Don't let Paula Cox off the hook" it was a cheap shot to uproot The Honourable, Dr. Ewart Brown.

He is trying to "use" Ms. Cox as a tool in a way that some call cheap psychology.

While on my walking exercise this morning, I bumped into an ordinary lady, who out of the blue said to me that all that they are saying of Dr. Brown is like what the Bible says: "Smite the shepherd and the sheep shall be scattered (Zech.13:7).

As she walked away from me, she continued to say that what they are doing to him (Dr. Brown) they did it to Jesus.

Dr. Brown is a strong leader with back-bone.

He stands on his own two feet. It seems to be, that as a result of his vision and aggression, he does seem to rub some people the wrong way but you cannot throw away the baby with the bathwater.

Sincerely,

Rendol James
