Letter - Too little patience on our roads makes tourists edgy
I don't believe the tourists are given ample space to practice their mopeds before going onto our roads.
I have seen many instances where they just ride a couple of feet from the rental place, turn around then ride back to the rental place. This is not good enough.
Then they are given this wide open space (Bermuda) to go and face first of all, driving on the left hand side of the road, then the traffic.
Also, I feel Bermudians need to be a little more courteous and patient with the tourist. I have seen so many instances where we are tailgaiting them because we feel they are going too slow, and that scares them because they hear the vehicle so close behind them and they turn to look which is quite dangerous for them.
I have seen Bermudians yell out to them because they are going slow, therefore they start to wobble on the roads.
I believe we can help the situation also by being patient with them, and again courteous, not to be so much in a hurry that we become rude.
I really feel for Hoopes family, and really wish I could do something to bring them comfort. What a difficult time for them.
