Letter - Burchall's rant made no sense
If the Past is the past and it's a big con to even talk about it [BDA Sun, April 30], why all this concern about getting rid of the past [BDA Sun, May 2] if it can do nothing to help us change the present? Which one of your columnist's views [those of Larry Burchall] are we to take seriously?
He writes "The Big Conversation dwells only on the past". How on earth can he be so dogmatic if he does not attend? Has he attended even one meeting?
The three young people who wrote in the same issue [April 30] are very much in the present, as are their experiences. Moreover, I would like to believe that any government, and that includes the PLP, has the capacity and responsibility to do more than one thing at a time.
Neither the Big Conversation nor the dialogue is very much of a distraction to either the Ministers of the Cabinet nor the majority of the population, since neither consistently attend either the panel or the dialogue, so that little rant on the part of Mr Burchall is quite absurd.
Perhaps if they did we might just become one Bermuda and that might go a long way to solve all of our many social problems.
