League final should be entertaining

The Open League final between St. David's and Rec will be a good one. Kameron Fox and Chris Foggo took them into the final last week. You have a couple of ex-St. David's players doing well in the ranks of Devonshire Rec so I'm pretty sure they'll be looking forward in putting one over us.

Having them play for Devonshire Rec is just one more thing to add to the match. The boys will want to get Chris out early and that adds an extra challenge.

We still have to stick to a strategy and not get carried away because they used to play for St. David's. They're just another player.

I'm definitely playing this weekend because it's a final and the boys will want me on the squad on Saturday.

Delyone's doing an excellent job since taking over as captain of St. David's. He's learned quite a bit since playing with the National set up. He was able to listen and see what some of the senior players were doing. I'm trying to pass some knowledge onto him, but he's a born winner. He's a aggressive and he knows the game. He's doing an excellent job and he'll get even better as he goes on.

Chris Douglas is coming along from his injury from the World Cup Qualifiers. He's just started to bat again, but he's not quite ready yet. He should be ready in about three weeks time. We don't want to force him back too early and see him get hurt worse because he is a prospect. When guys are young they want to get in and play, but they have to learn patience. He's going to have a very long and successful career so missing a couple games now isn't a big deal.

We have to think about his future - not just for St. David's, but for Bermuda. There's no need to rush.

Celebrity match

Everyone should be looking for the Under-11 all-stars playing against the celebrities on Sunday. They'll be able to showcase their talent. It should be a lovely day put on by the Cricket Board and supported by Hiscox.

The Premier is going to be there as well as Sports Minister Glenn Blakeney - that should be something to see. I'd love to see those two with a cricket bat in their hands because it should be quite entertaining.

All of us national team cricketers who are playing have to bat and bowl with our opposite hand. I've never done before so that should be worth a few laughs.

My son plays with the Under-11 All-stars and my son has been chattering all week that he's going to bowl me out and hit me all around the ground. That's something I'm looking forward to.

Tomorrow I'm going to try batting left-handed for a hour or so as practice. It is a bit of fun so I don't want to be too serious about it.

Bowling left-handed should even be more of a laugh. I can't even throw left-handed.
