TUESDAY, JANUARY 29: Little girls are often called princesses.
So why not treat them like princesses with a day at a spa created just for girls?
The Inner Beauty Kids Spa opened last October on Victoria Street across from People’s Pharmacy as a way to fill the void in the market.
Kim and Anthony Roberts are the owners and they also own Kalm Innovations Salon.
Kim said: “We got the idea after turning our salon into a kids spa for our daughter’s, seventh birthday.
“We also knew this was a growing trend as parents were taking their daughters to adult spas and having to pay adult prices.
“Children's spas have also proved to be a growing success throughout the US.
“Although, we knew it would only be a weekend and holiday service, we decided to start off small and see where the business venture would lead us.”
Kim said the business opened eight weeks before Christmas, allowing the company to make money during the busiest time of the year.
“The response was overwhelming and our gift certificates have been our major selling point.
“Before and after Christmas sales have been profitable through providing birthday party services, so much so that we have had up to seven parties held over one weekend.
She said the spa is now working on beefing up the individual bookings.
The spa is open on the weekends and offers manicures, pedicures, facials, dress up, makeup, and glitter body art.
The services come with a complimentary soft drink and a movie.
Kim also spoke about the therapists.
“We have a fabulous team of five girls ranging from the age of 15 to 18.
“By coincidence, they all attend The Berkley Institute and are all honour students.
“They have been successfully trained by professionals while bringing their own acquired skills and talents.
“These young ladies create their own original designs.”
The therapists were chosen out of 30 plus applicants.
Therapist Gabriella Munoz said: “I love working at Inner Beauty Kids spa. I get to do things that I love doing while making young girls feel beautiful and confident.
“I enjoy seeing the smiles on their faces after they have been pampered from head to toe. It also puts a smile on my face knowing that I just made someone’s day.”
Therapist Takeira Trott added: “My most memorable experience so far was when we had a Spa-Tacular Party scheduled for little Sienna Taylor, which was our largest party yet, consisting of 15 little 6 to 7-year-olds.
“The energy in the room that evening was overwhelming, but fun and exciting as I enjoyed the smiles, laughter and enjoyment each girl displayed.
“Although, I left exhausted, I was delighted in knowing I was a part of such a joyous occasion.”
Kim added: “ Opening a kid’s spa has proven to be a great idea, because we have provided an exclusive service for young people.
“It has been expressed by many that there are limited forms of entertainment on the island for our young people, therefore Inner Beauty Kids Spa provides an enjoyable experience that fills the entertainment gap for young ladies between the ages of 3-16 years.”
The spa is currently running a Mommy and Me promotion with packages starting at $35.
“We’re not just trying to provide a service but also an experience to build the self confidence of our young people.
“Our goal is to not only make the girls look beautiful on the outside, but to also have an impact that will allow their inner beauty to shine.”
