Keir is new Commercial global head

HSBC Holdings has announced its new global head of Commercial Banking.

Alan Keir, global co-head of Commercial Banking and head of Commercial Banking Europe, takes the position from January 1.

Mr. Keir will be based in London and have day-to-day responsibility for running all aspects of HSBC’s Commercial Banking business.

He becomes a Group managing director and joins the Group Management Board.

HSBC’s Commercial Banking contributed more than U.S. $4 billion in profit before tax to the Group in 2009.
