Vanessa James is Bermuda's other athlete at the Vancouver Games. The 22-year-old competed in the pairs ice skating competition on Sunday and Monday with Yannick Bonheur. The duo became the first all-black couple to compete in pairs skating at the Olympics. James father' Kevin is Bermudian and as a youngster she attended Mount Saint Agnes until she was 10. James' road to the Olympics was well-travelled. She was born in Canada, raised in Bermuda before moving to the U.S. to pursue greater figure skating opportunities. Because her father is Bermudian she was allowed to compete in Great Britain and was the British national champion in 2006 and silver medalist in 2007. She was the first black skating champion in Britain. In 2008 she switched to pairs to team with Bonheur. They won the French national championships. They finished 14th at the Olympics.[[In-content Ad]]
