The Argus Open started yesterday, but the Jamaican Davis Cup and Fed Cup players won't swing into action until next week.

This year the event will feature two Jamaican Davis Cup team players: Yussuf Migoko and Tyler Chin; and one Jamaican Fed Cup team player: Tinesta Ray Fiann Rowe. Yussuf Migoko, 28, is one of Jamaica's leading amateur players having won many National Amateur tournaments over the last three years.

Tyler Chin, 19, is one of Jamaica's leading young players and won a National Amateur tournament last year. Tinesta RayFiann Rowe, 21, is a member of Fresno State University's (California) tennis team which is currently ranked number 14 in the U.S. NCAA Division I rankings, and are the 2007 NCAA Conference Champions.

"We are really excited for this year's tournament," Allan Simmons, the Argus Open tournament director, said. "With the Jamaican Davis and Fed Cup team members here, we expect some very competitive tennis. As a growing tennis tournament on the island, we are pleased to bring in some international talent to compete against our exceptional local players. We would like to thank the Argus Group for their continued support of this tournament."

Argus president Gerald Simons hoped that people would come out and be inspired by the tennis.[[In-content Ad]]
