Jamaica names 20-20 squad
With a potential $1 million dollars at stake for the ultimate winner, Jamaica is calling on Wavell Hinds and Marlon Samuels to headline their team.
In making the announcement on Thursday, Jamaica has established a new way in picking its team as a way to spur cricketers to actually show up for training.
Athletes in Group 1 are first choice and include Hinds, Samuels, Carlton Baugh, Donovan Pagon, Tamar Lambert, Nikita Miller, Daren Powell, Andrew Richardson, Jermaine Lawson.
Cricketers in group 1A can replace those in group 1 and include Danza Hyatt, Xavier Marshall, Shawn Findlay, Damion Ebanks, Keith Hibbert, Lorenzo Ingram, Odean Brown, Andre McCarthy, Fabian Forbes, Leon Bent.
Chairman of selectors Ruddy Williams told the CMC said that players in Group 1 could be replaced by those in 1A and those in 1A by those not yet training. He said players will undergo weekly evaluations and players can be replaced at that time.
The weekly evaluations will be based on attendance, punctuality, fitness, match performance and responsiveness to coaching and training.[[In-content Ad]]
