I'm overdue a big score
We're in a must win situation today against the Netherlands and I feel I'm overdue a big score.
The team has put a lot of hopes into me. They wanted me to lead from the front with the bat and it hasn't worked out so far.
Over the last six months I have shown that I can be the leader when it comes to the batting. When I'm playing well we score quickly and a lot of the other guys feed off that.
So far I haven't lived up to the potential expected.
Other guys have stepped up in places but the team still looks to me to score runs and I have to start doing that.
Tomorrow could be my day and hopefully it will be - not just tomorrow but for the rest of the tournament.
I'm sure the people back home still support me. I've proven myself at this level and the teams we are up against see my wicket as a big one.
Hopefully I can perform not just for myself but for the team and for the country.
We are playing for the future of Bermuda cricket. If we don't go through tomorrow then we lose our One Day International status and we would have to play as hard as we can in the 9th-12th play-off to avoid being relegated to Division 3 of the ICC World Cricket League .
We have to do what we have got to do tomorrow and hope the other results go in our favour.
It would be a big disappointment after having been playing against the top teams in the world for the last few years to lose our ODI status. It would be hard for players to get motivated to play the likes of Cayman and Argentina after playing against the best in the world.
But that is the reality. We have had our problems with Delyone Borden not being here, Chris Douglas getting injured and now George O'Brien pulls up and is out for the tournament.
We don't have a big pool of cricketers to pick from so when we do have injuries it really effects us.
The ICC has put a lot of money into developing other countries and they have a lot more people to pick from. They have advanced beyond us.
It's a real struggle for us with only about 30 players to pick from who are capable of competing at this level.
Having said that I do believe that we have enough talent to compete with anyone on the day if the whole team clicks.
That has only happened once in this tournament so far - against Denmark. In the first few games the batsmen didn't perform and against Kenya the bowling wasn't there.
It hasn't helped that we have had to change strategy.
The team was looking for me to open and get us off to a good start. It hasn't worked. The conditions are totally different to what we expected.
The wickets are moist and the ball swings about a lot early on so we had to go with more of a conventional opening style.
Hemp and Fiqre have come in and done an excellent job up there. It's been a good move for Hemp. He's been batting through the innings and showing his caliber from his years in English county cricket.
They have had some success up the top and I'm back to my old role of trying to score quick runs late in the innings. That didn't work out against Kenya either and I was out for one. It's been very disappointing so far but I don't believe I'm in bad form.
I'm middling the ball in the nets and I'm just one knock away from being back in the runs. Let's hope it comes tomorrow.
