'I'm looking forward to doing Bermuda proud'
Cross country skier to make his Olympic debut on Monday; Singleton still out
Tonight he will have the honour of carrying in the flag at the Opening Ceremony in Vancouver.
"I'm just looking forward to doing Bermuda proud," Murphy said. "There's a lot of buzz around the village with people from all different countries."
Murphy will be accompanied in Vancouver by Bermuda Olympic Association president Judy Simons, association secretary general Philip Guishard, chef de mission Carol Bromby, Argentinean coach Martin Bianchi and manager Michael Murphy.
Skeleton slider Patrick Singleton was still waiting for his second appeal to be heard in his last ditch effort to make the Games.
As of press time last night, a ruling had not been made on his appeal.
Barring Singleton's late inclusion, Bermuda will be one of 11 countries with just one athlete in the games.
This is the island's sixth appearance at the Winter Games. Prio to Murphy, Bermuda was represented by Simon Payne in luge twice and Patrick Singleton in luge once and skelton twice.
For once, Bermudians should have a wide variety of options in watching the Games.
VSB 11 will be showing almost non-stop NBC coverage of the Olympics.
Local cable companies, Bermuda CableVision and WOW, have joined together to offer extended coverage of the Olympic Winter Games, taking place in Vancouver, Canada, from February 12 to 28, 2010.

Subscribers will be able to watch live and pre-recorded coverage of the event across a wide variety of channels.
Bermuda CableVision and WOW will also be showing an additional feed of the coverage, including footage of the opening and closing ceremonies.
To view this, CableVision subscribers should tune into channel 99 and WOW customers, channel 103.
