It will be a big celebration on Saturday night as the cricket will be marching the Trophy through St. David's. We'll start at the club and go up to the lighthouse before moving on to Cashew City then the battery before returning to St. David's.

I want to thank our sponsor Real Deal and CD&P as well as the club management at St. David's for helping make this season so successful.

This has been a real good season for the St. David's boys. There were five or six of them playing in Cup Match and then we won the County Cup and the league title.

I call them the Bermuda's three majors because those are the three trophies you want to win.

Some of them have had a really great season and they're living a dream that many people don't get to live. I've won as many as five before with Southampton Rangers back in 2000. That year we won everything and went undefeated.

Right now it's just Del Hollis and me who are the older players that are left and all the rest are youngsters. It seems like they've played together forever now. They are set.

They wanted to play for the league this year because this is the first time they've all been together for several years now as many St. David's players have been involved with the national team.

They showed what they could do when they're all together. It shows the quality and the talent that St. David's has and they're reaping the rewards now.

Del's retired from playing County but they'll have to push me out in a wheelchair because I will never retire from County because playing County is me. That's part of my culture. That's what I was born and bred into.

I will play County as long as possible - as long as I can walk and am good enough. I wouldn't say that I will play as long as Charlie (Marshall), but if there is any game that I want to play, it is Eastern County.

Senior national team

players should stay retired

I'm looking forward to hearing who the national team coach is. I'm still retired. I think we have enough good youngsters coming through that I don't need to be out there. If we can get all the best of the best youngsters, there is no need for any senior players to come back onto the squad.

If we can't get the best youngsters out, then we'll struggle.

I am not really interested in playing for Bermuda down the road, but I would be open for any twenty20 tournaments they would play in.

I would definitely put my hand up for that.

I feel the board has the schedule right this year - there have been some hiccups - but having the open cricket followed by the 50 overs and finishing with the twenty20 is the right way to go.

The players' interest in cricket after Cup Match begins to dwindle so the twenty20 keeps the interest in the game.

This is excellent and St. David's will be using it to have a good time and fun and keep the spectators excited.

The boys are going to try and win this trophy, but this is to keep the youngsters going. We'll have our nucleus, but we'll be shifting the team around a bit to get more youngsters involved.

The team with the best five bowlers and the best five batsmen is going to be the one that wins the trophy in the end.

We're the defending champions so we don't want to just give the trophy away.

Boulevard's plight

It's a shame that Boulevard doesn't have a place to play for football, but we're going through some serious times in Bermuda.

We have a problem at most of the black clubs to get youngsters come to us. Parents don't want to have their children around clubs at the moment that's why cricket and football are struggling.

It's not like the way it used to be and that's why we are missing out on some talent.

Clubs have to make a decision in which they feel is best for them and their community.

It's unfortunate situation that Boulevard finds themselves in but I do hope they do find a club.

It just goes to show one of the many problems we have in Bermuda with regard to social issues.[[In-content Ad]]
